03. My Journey

I first discovered my love for coding at a young age of 12, when a friend of mine found a book which had basic html and javascript snippets. Typing those snippets into notepad and watching code come alive on screen felt like magic to my young and curious mind, igniting a lifelong love for programming. Spending countless hours in the computer lab in school, I quickly became fascinated with computer science and programming. It wasn't long before I got my first PC at age 13 and began exploring the vast and exciting world of coding and soon started creating windows applications using Visual Basic.

At age 14, I stumbled upon an online competition called 'Google Codejam', and it introduced me to the world of Competitive Coding. It was thrilling to learn about logical thinking, problem solving, algorithms, data structures, and optimization at such a young age. This experience motivated me to start attending offline school-level coding competitions, which I dominated for a while. Soon after, I started competing at college-level coding competitions, and to my surprise, I did fairly well there too.

The most rewarding period came later when I started doing well in regular online coding competitions on platforms like Codechef, Codeforces, Topcoder, etc. Consistently being in the top 10 in India alongside people from top Indian colleges and working professionals from Google, Facebook etc was a humbling experience.

After completing my high school education, I embarked on my professional journey at the age of 17, joining a startup called Newsinshorts. During that period I was attending college in the morning and coding and managing tech for the startup afterwards. Eventually, Newsinshorts became successful and I became the Head of Technology. It later got rebranded to Inshorts, which has become a household name in India. Later, we launched another successful product called Public, which currently has more than 100 million users in India alone.

Coding has been my passion for over a decade. Thus far, the journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and I am enthusiastic about continuing to acquire knowledge and advancing in the technology industry. At present, my passion lies in Blockchain technology, and I aspire to dedicate the upcoming decade of my life to utilising it to improve people's lives.

03. Work Experience

I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to build the entire technology stack from scratch for Inshorts and Public. It was an enriching experience that allowed me to learn and grow as a technologist. During my time at Inshorts, I had the privilege of working on the development of the world-class mobile app that has garnered praise for its uniqueness. In addition to that, I had the chance to create several in-house tech products that gave us a significant technological advantage. These products include a real-time analytics platform, video processing platform, video delivery platform, ad platform that supports innovative ads, ad delivery and management platform, content processing platform, image processing platform, world-class recommendation engine, real-time marketing optimization platform, real-time content filtering platform, and more.

04. Interests and Hobbies

I should mention that I have other interests besides programming. I'm an avid board game enthusiast and have a modest collection of over 200 board games. In my free time, I enjoy organizing board game meetups, playing with other enthusiasts and introducing interested people to the hobby. Additionally, I love to explore music theory with my trusty Ukulele and recently challenged myself to read more books this year (2023), which I write about on my blog.
